The latest offer to the remaining 74,000 GM workers (represented by the United Auto Workers union) is designed to allow the company to save money by paying new workers significantly less in pay and benefits than its current workforce.
TRANSLATION: WE'RE SHIPPING THE JOBS OVERSEAS!!!
Ford has its own buyout offer out to all its remaining 54,000 hourly U.S. workers. Their proposal was announced last month when the company reported a fourth-quarter loss.
Privately-owned Chrysler has offered buyout packages to hourly employees at targeted plants, but has not make a companywide offer YET!!!

this is not the whole picture. its union greed that has destroyed the american auto makers. when you have unions demanding $40.00 an hour for the people that sweep the floors with lifetime benefits, american companies cannot compete with overseas auto makers. for example, japanese auto makers dont have to factor company health benefits into the cost of a car like american companies do. healthcare bills added $1,500 to the cost of every car made by GM, for example, compared to $200 per car for the company’s nearest foreign competitor. other union benefits added even more to the employers cost. some union production workers make as much as $75.00 an hour and even when they retire, all their benefits are for life. so the unions bankrupt and destroy the car companys and they are gone, along with the american jobs. but the union bosses will be left with their fat wallets, right? they make sure to get theirs before they destroy the company, and to hell with everyone else after that.

The salary guys will still have their jobs I guess!!!
The union however may be screwing themselves because they are not going to have any members left in America, and they can't take that union shit overseas.
So in the end they are fucking themselves too!!!

what are we supposed to do when all the jobs are gone except the ones in the service industry and the mexicans have all of those?
